Derek's bday

How nice is that to gather everyone together to celebrate the bday of these wonderful guys. After lots of coordination, waiting for seats outside the Taka seoul garden, finally we were together having a feast. As for me, i don't understand what has happened to me, because i used to love seoul gather, with all the oil, barbeque food, and that feeling of eat as much as you can, so to make the 20 bucks worthwhile!!! It seem i dislike seoul garden, because i can sense that my body is kind of rejecting the harmful stuff, maybe the body of mine is shouting to me, "hey you bastard! Better take care of me, if i suffer, you will also suffer with me.

A bday gathering or party will not be complete with this 3 things, first - people, second - cake, birthday songs, third - A sabo, and that will be a well mix cocktail. I did the cocktail with 1/3 of coke, 1/3 of brandy, and thats for sure that derek has a red red face and eyes, as for winston, not a single effect on him.

Reading the newspaper

Today i went to www.straitstimes.com, and found that we have to sign up to read the newspaper, i just felt that it is a very stupid thing, and i can't find any higher intention or ,meaning of it. Online newspaper like the new york times, channelnewsaisa, does not required to log in to read the newspaper. Plus the logging in, slows down the performance of the website. If they find that there is nothing to improve and just want to make that kind of features to let us know that "OHH!! They have improve the website, and is nice!" Then let me tell you, they are actually degrading it and make it worse. The usability seem alright, but the online activiation is carp, because the sending of the email to activate your account take ages, plus it actually just provide a link to let you close the window. Who the hell wants to close the window after the registration, they just want to continue to read the newspaper. By the way the whole upgrade of the web site is "extra" in hokkein is call "gei zhua".

Sent Down

It was in the morning, and i started to read on the Daily bread, which i normally would not do in the morning. I read on Sept 22 Wednesday, but the passage was short (you know how daily bread works). Which i think is not enough, so i read the yesterday issue. That issue really touches my heart.

The following is the passage. . .

SENT DOWN - 21 september 2004 Tuesday
READ: Philippians 2: 5-11

Humbile yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time. 1 Peter 5:6

A sporswriter described former major league baseball player and manager Don Baylor as a person who always remember how it felt to be "sent down" to teh minor leagues. When one of his players had to be demoted, he would always meet with him to explain teh decision. A team owner said of Baylor, " He has been through a lot of life lessons he can share with the players." It makes a big difference when the manager knows how a player feels.

It's always humbling to reduced in rank, privilege, or responsibility. But these things may come as part of God's training in our lives. The apostle Peter wrote, "'God resistes teh proud but gives grace to the humble.' Therefore humble yoiurselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in dur time" (1 Peter 5:5-6).

The apostle Paul described Jesus as our example of humble submission to God. He was sent down from heaven to become a man - "bondservant" who was obedient to the point of dying on the cross for our sins (Pilippians 2:6-8).

Humility and submission to God are not signs of weakness but evideence of Christlike power and character. We can receive courage and strength from Jesus Himself, who knows how it feels to be "sent down"

Going to a wonderful house

Yesterday, we went to one of wee long's friends house, his house is situated in the city, Queens St and opposite of marriot hotel. When we reached the apartment, and the lift opens. WOW! The lift looks like the hotel lift, very class. When the door opens, the corridoor also look likes an hotel, when we entered the room, it is a replica of the hotel room. THe best thing, is the view from there, at the ten floor. YOu have the overview of the marriot hotel and part of the river and the city, it was so nice, as through you are staying in the hotel. We were so envy that place, it was the most beautiful view, from all the house i been to. Is like you are staying in Singapore westin hotel, but this time round is your house, you will be staying for half a year.

There is gym facilities, swimming pool and sanua in the building, so we went to try out their facilties. The whole living environment is so good, but the rent is kind of high because they have to pay AUS$580 a week, but if you got the money that place is worth living in.

Star Thrower

3. THE STAR THROWER

INTRODUCTION

Loren Eisley, the American anthropologist, was the originator of this related story. I have heard numerous speakers tell variations of it as part of their motivational talks, and I think it’s a wonderful tale of encouragement for people who are on the point of giving up – and haven’t we all felt like that at some point of time.

THE TALE

A man was walking along the beach when he noticed a young boy apparently picking something off the ground and throwing it out into the sea. As the man got closer to the boy he saw that the objects were starfish. And the boy was surrounded by them. For miles and miles all along the ‘shore’ there seemed to be millions of them.

‘Why in the world are you throwing starfish into the water?’ he asked the boy as he approached.

‘If these starfish are on the beach tomorrow morning when the tide goes out they will die,’ replied the boy, continuing with his work.

‘But that’s ridiculous!’ cried the man. ‘Look around you. There are thousands of miles of beach and millions of starfish. How can you believe that you’re doing could possibly make a difference?’

The young boy picked up another starfish, paused thoughtfully, and remarked as he tossed it out into the waves, ‘it makes a difference to this one.’

MORAL

What is never attempted will never be accomplished; even the smallest of efforts defeats apathy.

REFLECTION

The tale can be used to illustrate the importance of breaking a task down into small, achievable units, and having the faith and confidence to start.

- Who or what are the ‘starfish’ that you want to serve?
- What goal are you trying to achieve at the moment?
- In what way might you break it down into chunks?
- Is your goal worth the effort you might expend, why?
- How will you keep your resolve to start – and finish the task?

About the blog

This blogger is going to be loaded with stories and tales, so that people can learn from it.

Other than that will be uploaded with some things about myself.
